PRESENTATION OUTLINE

BREAKING MY ARM

MACKENZIE CLARKE

Over the summer I was roller blading. It was around 8 o’clock, just before dinner. I was following my mom and my sister who were on their bikes and just as we went around a corner I lost my balance and fell on my knee and wrist.

We rushed to the hospital immediately and they told me my wrist was broken in 2 spots and dislocated.

What’s the science behind bones?
Bones are made of mostly collagen. Collagen is a protein that provides a soft frame while calcium phosphate is a mineral that makes bones strong and hard. Collagen and calcium combined in the bone allow bones to be strong and flexible at the same time so they can withstand stress and day to day activities.

The purpose of the bones are to protect various organs inside the body from damage. When we are born we have 270 bones but during development they fuse so by adulthood we only have 206 separate bones.

THANK YOU FOR WATCHING
