JOHN BELL HOOD

• Was a confederate general during the civil war
• Had a reputation of bravery
• Hood led a massive assault at the battle of chickamauga and was wounded taking his right leg
• And was bridge commander in the army of Robert e. Lee at the battle of Gettysburg

JOHN REAGAN

• He served on the cabinet of Jefferson Davis as postmaster general
• Joined the confederate states of America
• Reagan was captured and was in solitary confinement for 22 weeks

FRANCIS LUBBOCK

• Was the governor of Texas in the civil war
• Joined the confederate army
• Lubbock was promoted aide-de-camp for Jefferson Davis

THOMAS GREEN

• Green helped operate the "twin sisters"cannon
• Was an American soldier and a lawyer
• Became a confederate cavalry leader

JOHN MAGRUDER

• Military officer
• A confederate general in the civil war
• Army officer in the Mexican-American war

POLITICAL

• The southern states including Texas SECEDED from the United sates in 1861
• The federal government hasn't helped Texas prevent from getting Indian attackes
• Texas governor Sam Houston did not agree with secession

ECONOMIC

• Demand for corn and wheat for food shortage
• Many of the free slaves flead from Texas and very few stayed ,so farm production declined
• Here was a shortage or hired or payed laybors

SOCIAL

• Families were tearing apart brothers against brothers and fathers against sons daughters against mothers
• People devided because they were choosing different sides
• Many suffered the loss of family members fathers and sons who never come home
• Nixon supporters were treated with hospitality
