  • Stole women from Sabines to populate Rome
  • Established the Senate
  • Was murdered by senators or ascended into Heaven during a thunderstorm
  • Known as Quirnus after deification

Numa Pompilius

(715- 673 B.C)

  • Established religion- formulized rights and rituals
  • Credited with creating calendar reform to keep religious rituals
  • Built Temple of Janus
  • Established boundaries of Rome

  • Defeated Albans
  • Built Curia Hostilia larger senate house
  • Dispute settled by each side sending 3 brothers to fight
  • Very hostile
  • Destroyed Alba Longa
