NATURAL REGIONS

TUNDRA

  • Tundras are among Earth's coldest, harshest biomes. Tundra ecosystems are treeless regions found in the Arctic and on the tops of mountains, where the climate is cold and windy and rainfall is scant. Tundra lands are snow-covered for much of the year, until summer brings a burst of wildflowers.

Desert

  • a region so arid because of little rainfall that it supports only sparse and widely spaced vegetation or no vegetation at all.

Tropical Rain Forest

  • The tropical rainforest is a hot, moist biome found near Earth's equator. The world's largest tropical rainforests are in South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Tropical rainforests receive from 60 to 160 inches of precipitation that is fairly evenly distributed throughout the year.

  • Savanna is grassland with scattered individual trees. Savannas of one sort or another cover almost half the surface of Africa .
