PRESENTATION OUTLINE
The Amazon River
The Amazon River is located in the northern area of South America. The Amazon River is very hot and wet same as the rainforest.
No bridge crosses the river along its entire length. The Amazon and its tributaries flow through the countries of Peru, Bolivia, Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, and Brazil before emptying into the Atlantic Ocean 6, 437 kilometers (4,000 miles) from the Amazon's headwaters high in the Andes mountains of Peru.
The Amazon rainforest
The basin is 2.7 million miles while the Amazon covers 2.1 million square miles of it. The nine nations in the Amazon are Brazil, Peru, Columbia, Venezuela, Equador, Bolivia, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana.
Of particular concern is the link between sea temperatures in the tropical Atlantic drought in the Amazon. As the tropical Atlantic warms, the large parts of the Amazon may be night temperatures and less rainfall.
It covers 2.1 million square miles of land. Brazil has 60% Peru has 13% and Columbia with 10% while other countries have very small parts of the rainforest in their borders.
The Andes are the longest continental mountain range in the world. They are a continual range of highlands along the western coast of South America. This range is about 7,000 km (4,300 mi) long, about 200 to 700 km (120 to 430 mi) wide (widest between 18° south and 20° south latitude), and of an average height of about 4,000 m (13,000 ft). The Andes extend from north to south through seven South American countries: Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Chile, and Argentina.
The Andes are the world's highest mountain range outside of Asia.
