Fast food is not new to China. A fast food restaurant was opened 1,000 or so years ago and still serves costumers today.

With more than 5,000 restaurants in 1,100 cities in China, KFC dominates the country’s fast food landscape.

McDonald’s is very popular in China coming in at the second most popular restaurant in China behind KFC.

Up the country’s eastern seaboard in Shanghai is the worlds largest Starbucks. Starbucks stores in China are up to 40% bigger than even their largest U.S. stores.

In June 2012, AP reported: Burger King is setting its sights on China. The worlds second largest hamburger chain says it will open 1,000 restaurants in the country in the next 5-7 years.

Dunkin’ Donuts The American coffee and pastry giant said in 2015 it would open 1,400 new stores over 20 years.

As of 2015 there were 4,600 KFC’s and 1,100 Pizza Huts in China. The highest Pizza Hut in the world is perched on the 24th floor of a skyscraper in Xiamen.
