L is for Laughter
Throughout the whole book, characters laugh with or about each other. Two-Bit was always making everyone laugh. And Johnny even made Ponyboy want to laugh in chapter 6, but he couldn't because of all the smoke.

M is for Middle-Aged
Sodapop is the 'middle' kid. He's in the middle of Ponyboy, and Darry's arguments. He's treated better by Darry because he's older and the middle child knows how to use his brain.

N is for Naive
Ponyboy is very naive. He's natural and unaffected; innocent. He's never done bad in his life. He's very naive when it comes to Johnny killing Bob.

O is for outsiders
Outsiders is the name of the book. Cherry, who is a Socs, and Ponyboy, who is a greaser, feel like they are outsiders. They don't mind each other, nor do they mind other Socs / Greasers. The both have things in their life that make them feel as if they belong to Greasers, and Socs. For example, Cherry likes being close with friends. And Ponyboy is very smart.

P is for Ponyboy
Ponyboy is the main character. The book is written from his perspective. He's very smart, and he's a greaser. He feels like Darry doesn't care for him, until the fire happened at the church. He feels in an outsider, and like no one cares...except Cherry.

Q is for Questions
There is a lot of questions in The Outsider. Johnny always has questions. Sometimes he doesn't ask them, and sometimes he does. Once he understands, he explores. Ponyboy questions his spot in society, as well as Cherry does. Ponyboy questions whether Darry loves and cares for him, or not.
