PRESENTATION OUTLINE
1.
GLOBAL WINDS
GLOBAL WINDS ARE CAUSED BY UNEVEN HEATINGS OF THE EARTH AND THE CORIOLIS EFFECT
2.
POLAR EASTERLIES
POLOR EASTERLIES ARE FROM 60 TO 90 DEGREES NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE EQUATOR. THEY ARE WEEK WINDS THAT BLOW FROM THE EAST
3.
PREVAILING WESTERLIES
PREVAILING WESTERLIES GO FROM 30 TO 60 DEGREES LATITUDE NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE EQUATOR
4.
TRADE WINDS ARE FROM 30 DEGREES NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE EQUATOR
THEY ARE CALLED TRADE WINDS BECAUSE HISTORICALLY THEY WERE USED FOR TRAINING SAILORS
5.
THE DOLDRUMS
THE DOLDRUMS IS A PLACE AT THE EQUATOR WITH NO WIND AT ALL
6.
THE HORSE LATITUDES
NORTH AND SOUTH OF THE EQUATOR THERE IS A PLACE CALLED THE HORSE LATITUDES THIS PLACE IS 35 DEGREES ANDHAS LITTLE TO NO WINDS.
7.
SEA BREEZE
A SEA BREEZE IS FROM THE SEA THAT DEVELOPS OVER LAND NEAR COASTS. IT'S FORMED BY INCREASING TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE LAND AND WATER WHICH CREATES A PRESSURE OVER THE LAND DUE TO ITS RELATIVE WARMTH AND FORCES HIGHER PRESSURE, COOLER AIR.

8.
LAND BREEZE
A TYPE OF WIND THAT BLOWS FROM LAND TO OCEAN. WHN THERE IS A TEMPERATURE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE LAND SURFACE AND THE OCEAN, WINDS WILL MOVE OFFSHORE.

9.
MOUNTAIN BREEZE
A BREEZE THAT MOVES DOWN A MOUNTAIN SLOPE DUE TO THE GRAVITATIONAL FLOW OF COOL AIR.

10.
VALLEY BREEZE
A BREEZE THAT BLOWS COOL AIR TOWARD THE MOUNTAINS.

11.
THE CORIOLIS EFFECT
BECAUSE OF THE TURNING OF THE EARTH AND UNEVEN HEATING THE CORIOLIS EFFECT MOVES AIR MASSES

WHEN HUMIDITY ALTITUDE OR TEMPERATURE GOES UPTHEN AIR PRESSURE GOES DOWN. WHEN AIR PRESSURE GOES UP HUMIDITY ALTITUDE AND TEMPERATURE GOES DOWN.
