  • He was born May 26th 1899 and died February 3, 1979.
  • He was the "Father of Black Art"
  • Aaron Douglas was born in Topeka
  • In 1926 Doug married teacher Alta sawyer
  • He spent 3 years earning a masters degree in art.

  • New York, in 1933, Douglas had his first solo art show.
  • He established the Carl Van Vechten Gallery at risk education.
  • In 1963 John F Kennedy invited Aaron Douglas to attend the celebration of the emancipation.
