WHAT IS THE CAUSE OF OUR NATURAL DISASTER?

• WHEN STREES BUILDS UP BETWEEN TO PLATES, IT'S RELEASED QUICKLY AND CAUSES MASSIVE VIBRATIONS.
• When 2 blocks of the earth suddenly slip past one another.
• The surface where they slip is called the fault or fault plane.
• The location below the earths surface where the earthquake starts is called the hypocenter .
• The location directly above it on the surface of the earth is called the epicenter

SHORT TERM EFFECTS

• Effects of the ground shaking by earthquakes leads to the destruction of structures such as building.
• They could be killed by structures collapsing on them, glass shattering and hitting people.
• Fires resulting from the earthquake and many other ways that are caused by earthquake
• Aftershocks can cause even more damage to an area.
• It is possible to classify the impacts of an earthquake by taking the following factors into account.

LONG TERM EFFECTS

• Causes a lot of damage to the local economy because businesses are forced to pay for new building or shut down
• They also suffer from the lack of infrastructure that has resulted because of the earthquake
• Roads take a long time to rebuild which means a lot of businesses shut down.
• Some earthquakes cause dams to collapse.

PREPAREDNESS FOR EARTHQUAKES

• You make a preparedness kit.
• They would put all the pictures that are on the wall on to the the Floor so they don't fall and break.
• Secure your space=by indentifying your hazards and securing moveable items.
• Plan to be safe=by creating a disaster plan and identifying communication needs.
• Drop, cover, and hold on=when ground shakes.

• IMPROVE SAFETY=BY HELPING THE INJURED, PREVENTING FURTHER DAMAGE, AND EVACUATING FROM TSUNAMI ZONES.
• Minimize financial hardship=by strengthing your property and considering insurance.
• Earthquakes strike suddenly without warning.earthquakes can occur at anytime of the year and at any time and night.
• On a yearly basic 70 to 75 damaging earthquakes occur throughout the world .

RELIEF/RECOVERY

• A battery powerd radio, a flash light and extra batteries at home
• Learn first aid, learn how to turn off gas, water, and electricity.
• Make up a plan of where to meet your family after an earthquake
• Learn the earthquake plan at your school or work place.
