PRESENTATION OUTLINE
The Iroquois lived in longhouses. Longhouses were houses, but much longer.
Longhouses were about 180 to 200 feet long!
But people have found evidence of a longhouse than was 400 feet long!
Longhouses were divided into separate rooms, the rooms were divided for privacy.
The different rooms had different things in them, like a kitchen or bedrooms. 2 families lived in each room
The Iroquois built new longhouses to move to different land because the grass would dry out or there wasn’t enough food or water left.
After the French and Indian war was over, the 6 tribes got divided. After that, they forgot their culture, and lived in log cabins instead of longhouses, like the European settlers.
