PRESENTATION OUTLINE

2 THINGS THAT ENDED THE DEBATE

ABOUT SPONTANEOUS GENERATION.

2 EXPERIMENTS

BY 2 MEN THAT HAPPENED ALMOST 200 YESRS APART

PEOPLE WERE WRONG IN 1668

THE BELIEVED THAT ANIMALS (SUCH AS FLIES) SPONTANEOUSLY APPEAR.

In 1668 Francesco Redi
Did an experiment using flies and raw meat

He proved that the flies didn't in fact spontaneously generate, they were born from other flies. Aka life produces life.

Almost 200 years later in 1864 Louis Pasteur did an experiment using a flash and (boiled) broth.

He proved that the heat causes organisms to die and when tilted doesn't allow more to form

By the late 1900's scientists were working with these 2 theories proving spontaneous generation obsolete.
