The attitude for Theme for English B is dark. The speaker refers to himself as different because he is colored. He says in the poem that he is the only colored person in his school and he is different that everyone else. When his teacher assigns him the project it makes him examine himself and find out who he truly is.

The poem Theme for English B starts off as very sad because the speaker thinks he is different than everyone else because he is a different color. His teacher assigns him a project which causes him to look at himself and see who he really is. The speaker realizes that color doesn't matter because that doesn't make a person who they really are. The poems then starts to turn to a brighter mood and the speaker becomes happy.

After reading the title again for the poem Theme for English B, the title makes more sense. In the beginning I thought the title would be about an English class in school. The title is really about a project that was assigned to a student who didn't know who he really was. The speaker was depressed because he is colored. After doing the English project and thinking about himself, he realizes that everyone is the same.
