  • Dysentery
  • Typhoid Fever
  • Malaria
  • Scurvy
  • Pneumonia
  • Smallpox

POOR TRAINING.

Dr. Charles Abbott:
Dr. Abbott started out as a volunteer in the 26th Maine Infantry. He later became Chief Surgeon.

Only 2 years of training were required to become a doctor. Doctors did everything including the amputations.
