The article, "Why we must talk about the Asian-American story too," written by Michael Luo, explains how Asian and Asian-Americans experience racism in America to this day..

Even though that these Asian-American were born here in America, they were seen as FOB’s (Fresh off the Boat), and were being made fun of for their race.

At worst times, they faced strong racial segregation, meaning that they were separated from other because they were Asian.

Michael Luo exclaimed that one day while he was out with his family, that a white women stated "ugly exclamations" based on their race.

Michael wrote an open letter to the NY Times directing his letter to the white woman. In his open letter, he sated the "the insults you hurled at my family get to the heart of the Asian-American experience.)

He stated that it made him feel like he "Doesn't belong" and that he is not truly an American Citizen.

This relates to my essential question, because the lady who used those words towards Michael’s family, was using racism as a weapon. She completely took that chance and used it to break his family's "self-confidence." On top of that, the lady used this “weapon” to tear his family down, as she said basically told them to go back to where you came from, and made them feel like they were inferior to her.
