AGRICULTURAL INNOVATIONS

IN FRANCE AND ENGLAND (CST #23)

HOW DID SOCIETY CHANGE?

  • Three fields used for farming:
  • Ex. 1. Fruits & vegetables 2. Grain 3. Life stock
  • Life stock field used to renew the soil
  • Fields rotated every one or two years
  • Fertile soil made foods grow more easily, so people lived longer

SOCIETY (CONT.)

  • Population increased from healthy foods

ENGLISH KINGS' GOALS

  • To hold and add lands to their French territories
  • To strengthen their power against the nobles and the Church
  • Goals were achieved through the Hundred Years War

PARLIAMENT

  • Legislative group
  • Had two burgesses and two knights from each country
  • Two groups: House of Commons (knights), House of Lords (nobles & bishops)
  • Became stronger and began to check the royal power
  • Legislative property for Germany and Italy

ESTATES GENERAL

  • 1st Estate- Clergy
  • 2nd Estate- Nobles
  • 3rd Estate- Commoners
  • Legislative body for England and France
