Morpheme: a combination of sounds that have a meaning

PREFIXES

  • Are optional in a word
  • Can be used more than once
  • Is at the beginning of a word

ROOT WORDS

  • Are sometimes in a base word
  • Can be changed with suffixes
  • Can be a word by itself

SUFFIXES

  • Are added to the end of a word
  • Can sometimes affect the spelling of the root word
  • Are not always used in words

  • Is a word by itself
