Current deafness is more acceptable then it was in the past.
For example in Cairo there is a KFC restaurant where the the deaf can work.
They are treated very well they have schools there for deaf people.

HOW ARE DEAF PEOPLE EDUCATED?
The Deaf Unit is a small educational programme for deaf children in the old district of Cairo.
The program was founded in the late 70's.
The program was founded by the Egyptian Anglican Church.
It has a sign bilingual primary school for deaf children.
