WHY...?

• The goal was to take German troops away from the D-Day landing site
• Also, this was an attempt to take away reinforcements

North
-intended to convince the German high command that we would try to invade occupied Norway

South
-attempt to convince Axis powers that we would invade Pas De Calais
-this would force German troops to split

DECEPTIONS

• -fake planes, landing craft and information leaks were all used

DECEPTION CONTINUED...

• wireless traffic was also used to spread the fake leaks
• this made our presence known

DOUBLE AGENTS

• Double cross system
• Joan Pujol Garcia
• -managed to get recruited by Germans...sent them an abundance of fake information until we hired him
• He created a subunit of 27+ agents
