SENATORS

  • Each state can have 2 senators.
  • They each have one vote.
  • Before 1913 people could not directly vote for senators.
  • Senators are divided into 3 groups.
  • Vice president rules over the senate, but may only vote to break a tie.

REQUIREMENTS TO BE A SENATOR

  • Must be 30 years old or more.
  • Citizen for 9 years.
  • Resident from state they are running for.

CHAPTER 1,

BILLS

  • Bills that raise money must originate in the house.
  • When bill is passed it is sent to the president.

THE PRESIDENT CAN...

  • Sign the bill.
  • Veto (turn down) the bill.
  • Allow bill to become a law without signing.
  • The president can fource the law, along with the bill.
