2.

3.
HOOKING THE READER

5.
FACT
A fact as a hook can be a definition or a statistic.
When using a fact you want to make sure that it is interesting
Facts as hooks should not be everyday knowledge
Example: a crocodile cannot stick its tongue out

6.
OPINION
Opening with an opinion means taking a firm stance on a subject
Hooking with opinion should spark the reader’s interest
Example: I cannot stand macaroni and cheese.

7.
QUESTION
The key to hooking with a question is making the reader think
The reader should want to know the answer to your question
Example: When is it ok to bend the rules?
