Criteria: Unique

  • It is the only large particle accelerators in the world.
  • Uses liquid helium for cooling, a very unique substance (superfluid)
  • Accelerates particles to near light speeds(99.9999991%), no other machine can do this.

Criteria: Honorable

  • It is built by people from all over the world.
  • It is built for scientific purposes only, so no weapons can be developed from it.
  • It is built inside the most neutral country in the world(Switzerland)
  • Built near Geneva, a city known for world ethical conventions.

Criteria: Well-Known

  • Thousands upon thousands of people worked on it.
  • Millions of scientists have acknowledged and recognized it.
  • About 20,000,000 articles have been written about or in relation to it, on the internet alone.

Why should it make the list?

Biggest machine in the world, and much more..
