PRESENTATION OUTLINE
There is a deeper issue of rebellion that counterfeits as freedom that remains in our hearts today.
This is so dangerous:
- Counterfeits are made to look and feel real.

I. The Rebellion
that Counterfeits
as Freedom:
Exodus 32:1-9
What does it take
for them to abandon God?
This is so dangerous:
- Counterfeits are made to look and feel real.
- Counterfeits are made to be exchanged.
- Counterfeits have ulterior motives.
When we lose perspective in sin we rob God:
Have we ever realized this is what we are doing with our loss of perspective?
A people of stiff-necks surrounded by
“sacred cows."
“They promise them freedom, but they themselves are slaves of corruption.
For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.”
2 Peter 2:19
All sin and idolatry is, in the words of John Calvin, “monstrous madness, mixed with stupidity.” Like Israel, we are like a dog choking itself on its own chain!
II. The Need For a Mediator:
Exodus 32:10-14
God’s freedom extends deeper than the look and feel or a counterfeit.
Jesus, like Moses, will always intercede on our behalf. Jesus will always go before us and contend for us on our behalf no matter the “monstrous madness, mixed with stupidity” because He is a good shepherd.
God’s freedom doesn't have ulterior motives to manipulate but has one goal and motivation: the glory of God and the joy of His people.
The freedom of God is not to be exchanged but held onto tightly.
Can the things we pray for really find alignment with God’s will, glory, and promises?
If God would restore His people through the mediator Moses who was not able to atone for their sin, how much more is God able to extend mercy and restoration through the better mediator Jesus?
It is amazing to think that God would be able to dwell among them in the tabernacle, yet, how much more amazing is it that God would make His dwelling in human flesh and walk among us in order that He could make a way to dwell inside of our hearts?
