WHAT IS THE VALUE OF BEING ABLE TO THINK FREELY?

NO CENSORSHIP

The article “The Freedom of Speech” by John Paul Stevens, explains a story about a woman that was shamed because of the way she dressed. I believe that this article was very eye opening, it is amazing to see how far this world has come. It really shows you how important freedom of choice and freedom of speech are.

HUMAN RIGHTS

In this society, people are allowed to be whatever they want without getting judged for it. Everyone has their own rights, and are treated fairly equal.

Some may disagree, but I believe that this article gives us a good idea on what it is really like to be treated unfairly. Now days, a woman could wear anything she wants and would only get judged by the people around her; however, there would not be any curious consequences. Compared to the 1400s, where a woman would be mocked or killed for having a different opinion.

America does a significantly great job at allowing people to express the way they feel. If someone wants to protest or speak their minds, they are free to do so because of our first amendment.

FIRST AMENDMENT

The first amendment protects the right to speak freely, the right to peaceful protest, and the right to religion. This means that you could speak your mind about anything you believe in without being judged or even killed.

Freedom

The value of being able to speak your mind is extremely important because it allows you to be yourself and show your true colors. America truly is one of the only countries that allows you to come out and be yourself. It opens doors for you to speak your mind and express yourself.
