WHY IS BETRAYAL SO DESTRUCTIVE?

The website Jesus revolution explains that anyone who betrays you was never a true friend/ follower to begin with. One of Jesus' so called apostles, Judas, asked, “How much are you willing to pay me to betray Jesus into your hands?” They agreed to pay him thirty silver coins(Matthew26:14-16).

The novel The Natural a woman named Harriet Bird acts as if she is in love with the main character Roy Hobbs. Although her only intentions are to turn on him and sabotage his baseball career.

Trust is a very hard concept to grasp especially if you have been betrayed before. Jesus felt this when he prophesied, “Before the rooster crows in the morning, you will deny three times that you even know me” (Luke22:31-34).

In the novel The Natural, Harriet unexpectedly turned on Roy and shot him in the side, that made it very difficult for him to trust anyone again. That was a major obstacle in his career.

Usually after someone stabs you in the back and looses your trust you will hold a grudge toward them for a long time. It is hard to forgive someone who emotionally hurt you. Although we shouldn't act like that. Jesus revolution states, "Seeing the Savior whom he had sinned against, brought Peter to a place of sorrow for his sin, repentance (turning back to Jesus), and restoration (accepting forgiveness) from the Anointed Messiah, the Lord Jesus Christ." Jesus is always forgiving toward his children when we disobey him so we should be forgiving to our friends and enemies.

Roy moved on in life and tried to not let his situation with Harriet get in the way of loving and trusting his new wife memo Paris.

You cant let betrayal ruin your trust forever.
