HOW TO MAKE

A HOMEMADE WATER FILTER

INGREDIENTS

  • 2 liter soda bottle
  • Cotton batting (cotton balls)
  • Plastic straw
  • Fine and Large gravel
  • Fine and Large grain sand
  • Activated charcoal granules
  • A coffee filter

INGREDIENT PRICES: NON-HOUSEHOLD ItEMS

  • Activated charcoal granules: $5.99 @ Home Depot
  • 50 lb. Play Sand: $3.75 @ Home Depot
  • Fill Sand/Sandy 9s: $6.50 @ Weidle Corporation
  • 50 lbs. Outdoor gravel: $3.35 @ Home Depot
  • Pit-Run Gravel: $6.00 @ Weidle Corporation

Step 1: Cut off the top half of the soda bottle.

Step 2: Put the cotton batting on the bottom of it.

STEPS 3-10

  • Pour in a half cup of coals.
  • Repeat with fine and large sand.
  • Then fine and large gravel.
  • Repeat until the top is filled.

PLACE A COFFEE FILTER ON TOP OF EVERYTHING.
