Linear equation

Cubic equation

Quadratic equation

Exponential equation

GRAPH

  • Similarities- the linear and exponential graphs go in similar directions like they both look like lines at and angle, while the cubic and quadratic graphs have more of a parabola
  • Differences: linear graph is a straight line at and angle while the exponential graph sort of curves over at the X axis. The quadratic graph forms a parabola but the cubic graph is like one but then it looks like a double parabola or like a wave

EQUATIONS

  • Differences - the linear equation has a x variable multiplied to the number 2 but in the exponential equation the x variable is the exponent of 2. The cubic equation has 2 x variables with exponents while the quadratic equation only has one changing the outcome of the graph.
  • Similarities- every equation has a x variable with added numbers that alter the outcome of the graph

TABLES

  • Similarities: they all have x and y values with equations for the X value to get the y value.
  • Differences: the cubic function table is a little different because it has a f(X) for the y value. Some of the tables have negative numbers for the X values

Real world problem
A lawn mowing business, charges $15 per lawn and each lawn mowed cost you about $2 in gas and other expenses. To determine your profit as a function of the number of laws you mow, you can write a function. X represents the number of lawns mowed.
P=(15-2)x=13x
