ROARING 20'S COMPARED TO THE DIRTY 30'S

• 20's were a time of dancing, music, and art appreciation
• 30's were a time of loss, low income, and homelessness

WORKING WOMEN IN THE 20'S AND 30'S

• 20's- Women mainly worked as flappers, teachers, social workers, or nurses. They worked the jobs they wanted to work
• 30's- Married women who worked were ridiculed for having full time jobs outside of their homes, Had to work whatever jobs they could find, and women were paid half as much as men were

FASHION

• 20's- Showed skin for women, more casual for men, more free and helped to embrace new ideas of clothing
• 30's- Whatever rags a person could find is what they wore, dirty clothes, worn clothes, and tattered with holes

TECHNOLOGY

• 20's- Cars became more popular, factories got more inventions, new farming equipment
• 30's- the electron microscope was invented, as was the photocopier and the chocolate chip cookie

INVENTIONS MADE BETWEEN 1920 & 1929

• 1920: Hair a Dryer, Traffic Light, band-aid, and Q-tips
• 1921: Lie detector
• 1923: bulldozer
• 1927: Kool-aid and the bread slicer

INVENTIONS MADE BETWEEN 1930-1939

• 1930- chocolate chip cookie, polygraph machine, and first color sound cartoon
• 1931- electron microscope
• 1932- desk phone
• 1938- Photocopier
• 1939- Nuclear Fission discovered

The Roaring 20's and the dirty 30's have almost nothing in common. The 20's truly didn't have much downfall until 1929 when the stock market crashed. The 30's were primarily taken over by the Great Depression which led into World War II. The two decades are completely opposite from each other and it shocking to see how quick it all changed.
