Slide Notes

This presentation was given on 28 July 2015 at the Criterion Conferences Operating as a Service conference. It is about using 'as a service' models for government ICT procurement. The opening slide is a reminder of my first job as a driveway attendant in a service station in the mid-1970s - a job that doesn't exist anymore.

Cloud contracts

This chart contains contract data from tenders.gov.au selected on the keyword 'cloud' and manually filtered to exclude irrelevant data points. It demonstrates the significant growth in cloud computing over the last 24 months.

What to do

Let's ask the panel

consult, collaborate, contract
The cloud services panel is Finance's new offering through which agencies can procure cloud computing services. It has several interesting features, beginning with the consultative manner in which it was designed, the use of an online service catalogue accessible by public servants and editable by the vendors, a single standard head agreement across 110 providers, and the ability to modify the panel regularly.
