PRESENTATION OUTLINE

R is for Rumbles

Rumbles perfectly explains the relationship between the Socs and greasers. During the book their was a big rumble between the Greasers and the Socs and the Greasers ended up winning. By Johnny stabbing Bob was what really set off the big rumble between the Greasers and Socs.

S is for Scared

When Johnny stabbed and killed Bob both Johnny and Pony Boy were scared they were going to get caught. They were scared and they were going to get caught by the police and put in jail. So Johnny and Pony Boy ran away to the abandoned church and hid there.

T is for Tough

Greasers are known for being tough. When the greasers got in to the big rumble with the Socs the Greasers showed how tough they were by winning the rumble. Even the way Greasers dress make them look tough leather jackets, jeans, flannel shirts, and slicked back hair.

U is for Understanding

The person that understands everybody in the gang is Soda Pop. When Darry yells at Pony Boy, Soda Pop is always their for him understanding what he has to say. Soda Pop always listens to both sides of the story and is also their for you if you need him.

V is for Violent
Socs are very violent. The Socs will gang up on one Greaser and beat them up for no reason. Also, Socs are so violent they'll go on the Greasers turf and beat them up. That shows how violent the Socs truly are if their willing to hurt the Greasers on their own turf when the Greasers didn't even do anything.

W is for Witty

This means verbal humor. When the gang is in Pony Boys house two bit has to be witty all of the time. He is like that when things are bad because he wants things to be better and fun.

X is for Xenophobia

When someone is xenophobic they have an irrational fear of people who are different to them, such as strangers or foreigners. Pony Boy had xenophobia because he hated the socs because they were rich and they had no problems. After he got out of the hospital he didn't have that because he knew they were just like him.

Y is for Yeasty

This means full of restless energy or creativity; insubstantial. Soda Pop is always yeasty. He stays that way to stay positive even when things go wrong. He is always ready for fights at moments notice just like in the rumble.

Z is for Zany

This means a silly idea. After the death of Johnny and the discussion with Sodapop, Pony Boys grades were not doing so hot so his English teacher told him to write a paper of a theme of his own choice that had to be at least 5 pages. He had many ideas but they were all Zany and he couldn't think about them. Finally, he figured he could write about Johnny and starting the whole book again.
