Understanding Children

Jeff Stephenson Presents

Primary Learner

  • Ready to learn and absorb information
  • Children entering the school are coming with a wide range of strengths and weaknesses
  • Engage students through their interests and areas of inquiry
  • Develop social and learning skills through play and cooperation activities

Using Student Profiles

  • A quick, easy and effective tool for teachers to get an overview of a students strengths, achievements and challenges
  • Effective for students that have more than one teacher (rotary)
  • The information in the profile is not the only way a student may learn, they may develop new strategies

Creating Class Profiles

  • By better understanding all of your student's learning habbits, the better you can plan for all
  • This also can create student groups and cater to their specific needs

A Self Advocacy Card is an excellent way to help students identify their own strengths/weaknesses and provide them a tool that they can use/edit throughout their educational career!

"The more we understand, the more efficient we can ensure their learning success" (How Learning Profiles Can Strengthen Your Teaching)
