HISTORY
Originated from the Aztecs Indians or Mexico. At the age of 15 the Aztecs believed the girls were marriage ready. As a result they went through ceremonial rites of passages, included parental speeches, beseeching their adalesnt daughters to become wise upstanding women.
Family, friends, relatives have to volunteer as a sponsor.

Quinceanera tradition is believed to have started years ago when Spanish conquerors brought the tradition to Mexico, many say it was originated by the Aztecs. A quinceanera celebration is a Hispanic tradition, following Mexicans, and sometimes central, South American cultures.
CULTURAL IMPACT
Priar to the 1960's were occasions reserved for the upper classes. As more latinos imagrated to the U.S. quinceaneras have spread across all rungs of socioeconomic classes. In earlier times the girls 15 birthday have signaled that she was an active adult member of the community. Today the tradition has changed slowly but remains a celebration of woman-hood, family, and community.

The girl wears a ball gown with petticoat, tiara, and gloves. Dresses are either white, and occasionally pastel colors such as red, royal blue, and burgundy.

Last doll, kneeling pillow, bible and rosary, tiara and crown, photo album, and guest signature book, toasting glasses, and matching cake knives

Usually has thanksgiving mass, followed by the reception & banquet & famous quinceaneras waltz or el bals

Usually has 14 girls or damas & 14 men called chambelanes. Can sometimes choose to only have 7 girls & boys or only all boys or all girls
