Rationale for study

  • From a hospitality industry perspective:
  • Would raise the company's HR costs Does not contribute to economic growth and development More likely to rely on government assistance programs
the hight tornover is one of the bigest problem in the hotel industry

Purpose of the literature review

  • Provide an overview
  • Identify key theories, concepts and research
  • Assesses the quality of existing research
  • Synthesizes existing research
  • Provides a foundation for future research
A literature review is a comprehensive summary and evaluation of the relevant literature on a given topic. The purpose of a literature review is to
Provide an overview of the current state of knowledge on a topic: A literature review enables researchers to identify gaps in current knowledge and to understand how their research fits into the broader context.
Identify key theories, concepts and studies: A literature review enables researchers to identify key theories, concepts and studies that are relevant to their research questions.

Assess the quality of existing research: A literature review allows researchers to critically assess the quality of existing research and identify any limitations or biases in the research that has been conducted.

Synthesize existing research: A literature review allows researchers to synthesize existing research and identify patterns, themes, and linkages among different studies.
Lay the groundwork for future research: A literature review lays the groundwork for future research by identifying areas where more research is needed and providing a context for interpreting the results of future studies.
Helps support research questions or hypotheses.

Title:Hotel employees’ fun climate at work: Effects on work-family conflict and employee deep acting through a collectivistic perspective
Theory:(Above picture)
Conclusion:Socializing with colleagues and celebrating at work are prerequisites for having global fun at work.
A global fun atmosphere can effectively reduce employees' perceptions and increase their depth of behavior at work.(Emiroğlu et al., 2015)

Title:The Relationship Between Turnover Intention and Demographic Factors in Hotel Businesses: A Study at Five Star Hotels in Istanbul

Conclusion:Female employees have a higher intention to leave than men
Single employees have a higher intention to leave compared to married employees.(Xu et al., 2020)

Female employees have a higher intention to leave than male
employees. It can be concluded that this situation is caused by the roles and responsibilities female employees assume in the family and limited career development.

higher among single employees compared to married employees. The reason for this may be due to the financial responsibilities that married employees have in their jobs.
The reason may be due to the financial responsibilities that married employees have in their families.

Title:Effects of customer incivility on turnover intention in China’s hotel employees: A chain mediating model
Conclusion:Customer incivility influences employee intention to leave by affecting emotional exhaustion, job satisfaction, and professional identity.(Pu et al., 2022)

Customer incivility influences employee intention to leave by affecting emotional exhaustion, job satisfaction, and professional identity.

Among the three mediating variables, the mediating effect of emotional fatigue is the most obvious. When hotel employees encounter customer rudeness, it increases their emotional exhaustion, which reduces job satisfaction, weakens professional identity, and ultimately leads to increased intention to leave.

Methodology

  • The purpose of the methodology
  • What type of Methodology have choose
  • What choices have rejected
  • (Saunders et al,2009)

The purpose of the methodology

  • Allows others to assess the credibility and validity of the study
  • Highlights any limitations of the study
  • Allows the reader to understand the research process
  • Helps define the study design
The purpose of a methodology is to provide a clear and transparent explanation of the research process, which allows others to assess the credibility and validity of the study. It also highlights any limitations of the study, which allows the reader to understand the research process and any potential biases or limitations that may affect the results. Additionally, the methodology helps to define the study design and the methods used to collect and analyze data, which helps to ensure that the study is conducted in a rigorous and scientifically sound manner. This is important for building trust in the research findings and for making them useful for future studies.

Method of selection

  • Mixed methods
  • Qualitative Research-Interviews(Face-to-Face Interview,semi-structured)
  • Quantitative Research-Questionnaires(Online Questionnaire+Closed-ended questions+Likert scale questions)
Mixed methods have several advantages over using only one method of data collection or analysis. They provide a more comprehensive understanding of the research question by combining the strengths of both quantitative and qualitative methods. This can lead to a more robust and nuanced understanding of the research topic. They also allow for the integration of different perspectives and help to address the limitations of one method by leveraging the strengths of another. Overall, mixed methods can improve the quality and depth of research and can increase the generalizability and applicability of findings.

Method of rejected

  • Observation
  • Open-ended questions
  • Focus groups
  • Documents and records Case studies
While observation, open-ended questions, focus groups and group interviews, documents and records, and case studies are all valuable data collection methods, they also have some disadvantages.

Observation: Observation can be time-consuming and may not always provide a complete understanding of the research topic. It can also be affected by the observer's bias.

Open-ended questions: Open-ended questions can be difficult to analyze and can be affected by the respondent's level of self-awareness.

Focus groups and group interviews: These methods can be affected by group dynamics, and the results may not be representative of the entire population.

Documents and records: These methods may not provide a complete understanding of the research topic and may be subject to bias

All of these methods can also be affected by ethical considerations such as the protection of participants' privacy, consent and bias.

Ethics consider

Untitled Slide

  • What are the key ethical considerations
  • Why are they important
  • And how can strong ethics affect investigation

key ethical considerations

  • privacy
  • confidentiality
  • informed consent
  • potential harm to those involved
Key ethical considerations in investigations include issues related to privacy, confidentiality, informed consent, and potential harm to those involved.

Why important

  • Positive impact on the results and perceptions of the survey
  • Increases trust and cooperation among all parties involved
  • Improves the credibility of the findings
  • Protects investigators

These considerations are important because they help protect the rights of all parties involved in the investigation, as well as preserve the integrity and credibility of the investigation itself.

To comply with these ethical considerations, investigators should ensure that they have obtained the informed consent of participants, that they are transparent about the nature and purpose of the investigation, and that they have obtained any necessary legal or institutional approvals. They should also take steps to protect the confidentiality and privacy of those involved and to minimize the potential for harm. This may include using anonymous or data, implementing strict security protocols, and regularly reviewing and updating these tocols.

Having strong ethics in investigations can have a positive impact on the outcome and perception of the investigation. It can increase trust and cooperation among all parties involved and ensure that investigations are conducted in a fair and impartial manner. In addition, it can increase the credibility of findings and ensure that they are perceived as trustworthy by stakeholders. A strict code of ethics can also protect investigators and the organizations they work for from any legal or reputational risks.

Limitation and Conslusion

Limitations

  • Small sample size
  • Cultural infulence
  • Time management
This is a limitation of the study. Because only one hotel was surveyed and not the entire group. Only employees under the age of thirty were surveyed, so the sample size is small.

On the other hand, the survey was conducted in hotels in China. However, due to cultural reasons, the reasons for leaving of young hotel employees may vary from country to country.

Finally, because the reserch time is limited, the time needed for each segment should be arranged to ensure the validity of the survey.

Conclusion

We set up our objectives, selected and analyzed the references. Methodology and sample of the investigation were also developed.

Also, we learned about the various factors influencing the departure of young employees. It makes our survey more rigorous and comprehensive.

Therefore, given the importance of high unemployment rate of young employees in the hospitality industry, I hope my research can suggest some constructive solutions and also hope some hotels with high employee turnover rate can pay attention to and solve these problems to achieve long-term sustainable development.t.
