Lean is the relentless pursuit of removing Waste.

How does that look in your department today?

What would you like it look at in your department?

Maybe you are the one dragging - understandable

Untitled Slide

Is this how your list of "priorities" look?

Does your list of must haves, must do, can't fail - feel a little like this?

And then above all else you must DO Lean?

Untitled Slide

Do you feel as a Leader, you manage people or processes?

Untitled Slide

Lean turns your leadership role on it's head.

Instead of managing people - Lean teaches you to manage the "process" that you and your team design and coach and mentor people.

How does that sound? Great? right?

Untitled Slide

What is your coaching style?

Way to go!

Yes, I am here supporting you.

Fully present - engaged in what is going on.

Could this coach - coach his team from a meeting room? Why do we think we can coach our teams like that?

Untitled Slide

Maybe you are like this kind of coach?

Does your day ever feel like this?

Are you firefighting?

Spending most of your precious time in meetings?

How much time of our day do you spend with your team?

Does this look like Servant leadership?

Untitled Slide

You probably worked your way to leadership by being the person that got things done.

Pushed through every obstacle/barrier.

You developed creative innovative workarounds to every process in your area.

You overcame and produced superior results.

How does that approach transfer to leading your team?

Untitled Slide

If you don't think you need to change - or want to change.

We are wasting each other's time. Thank you...

But..... if you want to change some things.

Here are a couple of clues to help you see if you need to make any changes in your leadership style?

How much of your time is spent in meetings? Firefighting?

Pouring over charts, budgets, taking staff complainants, customer complaints.

How much time do you spend managing the process?

Untitled Slide

Where to start.

6S your calendar

Add blocks of time to coach and lead you team

this will result in freeing up your calendar even more as you increase your time in the work area, department.

Untitled Slide

How do you get a bunch of people to work together to achieve a common goal???

Again manage the process - coach/mentor the team.

They need you, they want to be the best.

Who comes to work, I want to be ok..... We save people's lives. The lives of our family, neighbors and friends. Can we afford to be ok?

The leader must be in the boat with them.

Get in the boat!
