• Opened in 1924 but by the 1950s became rundown and hardly ever used
• Home to its first serial killer in 1987 Richard Ramirez who brought hookers to his room and killed them
• Jack Unterwege was another serial killer that used the Hotel Cecil to kill people
• Helen Gurnee, in her 50s, leaped from a seventh floor window, landing on the Cecil Hotel marquee on October 22, 1954

• Pauline Otton, 27, jumped from a ninth floor window after an argument with her estranged husband on October 12, 1962.Otton landed on George Gianinni, 65, who was walking on the sidewalk 90 feet below. Both were killed instantly.
• Julia Moore jumped from her eighth floor room window on February 11, 1962,
• Pigeon Goldie" Osgood was found in her room stabbed to death on June 4th, 1964 the case was never solved
• Many report sightings on Elizabeth Short- a woman who was last seen at the hotel before her death- ghost around the hotel

• The ghost of Elizabeth short( a woman who was last seen alive at the hotel) has been sighted at the hotel
• A portion of the hotel was refurbished in 2007 after new owners took over.
• One of the most interesting and insane deaths at the hotel happens In February 2013 the body of Elisa lam was found in the water tanks after over 2 weeks being in there
• When investigators looked at the cameras they saw her in one of the elevators making strange and spastic movements before going off camera never to be seen again

FUN FACTS

• The Cecil hotel was used as heavy influence in one of the seasons of American horror Story
• The hotel was renamed "The stay on main" to try and rid the hotel of its bad name.... It didn't work to well
• Nick named 'California horror hotel'
