EVENT SUMMARY/PLANNING PROCESS

  • Life Event: My Bestfriend and I planned to go to Quebec this summer to see the city and Quebec as a whole.
  • Goal: to save $600-800 dollars for the trip by putting $125 dollars in my savings account each paycheck I get
  • Form a plan: Find inexpensive goods and needs for the ride to Quebec
  • Work out a good work schedule to obtain the amount I wish to save by the end of the summer
  • The date is undecided but most likely in August we are going

FINANCIAL SITUATION

  • I WANT to get souvenirs and shop for clothes
  • I NEED a hotel and to pay for food
  • SMART Goal
  • S - I plan to save for a summer trip to Quebec
  • M - I plan to save $600 for my trip to Qubec
  • A- I will save $600 by saving $125 from each paycheck
  • R - I will save $600 by saving $125 from each paycheck and any spare money I receive
  • T - I will save $600 by saving $125 from each paycheck by the end of 3 and a half months

FINANCIAL SITUATION CONTINUED

  • Priorities: Save as much money as I possibly can by the end of the summer
  • Challenges/concerns: I may not be working as much as I want to. Or as much as I NEED to
  • I could possibly get terminated anytime from my job
  • Parental concern may stop us from going

COMPARISON SHOPPING

  • Portable charger
  • Mace
  • Water bottles

FLASHLIGHT COMPARISON

  • JetBeam II PRO Cree Strobe Flashlight - BLACK
  • $51.45
  • Made for camping, outdoor adventures etc. made of stainless steel, four brightness levels, used for self defense, made of sturdy aluminum
  • Energizer Rechargeable LED Flashlight (RCL1NM2WR)
  • $13.99
  • Good for emergency situations, reach arguable, one flashlight setting, casing material is polycarbonate
  • The energizer would be better even though the other flashlight is top knotch. It would be crazy to spend 50 dollars in a flashlight unless we were going camping which we aren't

SUNSCREEN

  • Walgreens sport sunscreen
  • $2.99
  • 3 ounces
  • Water resistant and protects from UVB rays
  • Banana Boat sunscreen
  • $6.97
  • 8 ounces
  • SPF 50, water resistant, sweat resistant
  • The better option would be Banana boat. Yes, you have to pay more but you get more ounces. Plus it's sweat resistant as well.

PORTABLE CHARGER

  • mophie - Power Reserve 1x Portable Charger - Rose Gold
  • $30.99
  • Lasts a very long time, charges about 3 phones fully
  • Tzumi Pocket Juice Slim 4,000mAh Solo Portable Charger, Teal
  • $10.35
  • Charges for 48 hours, comes with a flashlight as well
  • The tzumi charger would be a better option. It's cheaper and it works just as long most likely. Plus you get a flashlight

MACE

  • Mace Brand Self Defense Triple Action Self Defense Pepper Spray
  • $15.10
  • 11 grams
  • High defense, police level pepper spray. Safety cap and formula has tear gas, pepper and UV dye
  • VEXOR Key Guard Pepper Spray, 1/2 oz, Purple
  • $6.20
  • .5 Ounces
  • Works in cold climates, works in short bursts and attaches to keys. Used in law enforcement as well
  • The vexor is better. It may not be a lot but they're both high quality sprays. Getting attacked could happen but not more than a few times in the same city. It's not a likely occurrence.

WATER BOTTLES

  • Moosejaw Klean Kanteen Insulated Bottle with Cafe Cap
  • $29.95/ 16 oz
  • Insulted food and beverages for 6 hours, sturdy metal, accolades ice cubes, leak proof cap, chills drinks for 24 hours
  • CamelBak Eddy 25 oz Water Bottle
  • $15
  • Protects against spills, dishwasher safe, BPA free
  • The camelbak is less expensive and holds more, yet it's not insulated. If we wanted insulated I'd take that but instead the camelbak is a better choice for me
