TOPICS

  • Monocular and Binocular Cues
  • Gestalt
  • Top-Down and Bottom-Up processing

Linear Perspective (Monocular)-Parallel lines appear to slant inward as they get farther away

Texture Gradient (Monocular)-the further away objects are, the smoother they appear and the less detail visible

Retinal Disparity (binocular)-each eye receives an image and the greater the contrast between the two images, the closer the object is

Convergence (Binocular)-the more the two eyes pull inward toward the nose, the closer the object is (the more strained they are)

Top-Down processing-similar to assimilation, we use what we already know to interpret new information

Bottom-Up processing-similar to accommodation, new information we observe influences previous thoughts and ideas
