By the time King Solomon, who ruled from about 970 B.C. to 930 B.C., the Israelites had established control over all of the land that came to be called Israel and made Jerusalem it's capital.
Solomon is best known for building a temple in the city Jerusalem.
After Solomon's death, tension among the tribes within Israel led to the creation of two separate kingdoms.
