Making a Difference

Although Kenya is a beautiful country with native wildlife and plants, it faces many negative ordeals such as poverty, violence and starvation. Only the rich have enough money to go about a normal life, the poor live in slums and even struggle to pay for food.

Every day while you are at school, at home or playing around with your friends. Thousands of people are struggling to survive. Most of these people cannot afford to send their children to school to get proper education.

Kenyans are struggling every day to supply fresh, clean water to their children. You can help by donating to certain fundraisers or charity's who supply clean water to people in Kenya.

How can we help?
There are many ways we can help these unfortunate people. Even a small amount affection can change their lives massively. You can donate money to their schools or even start your very own fundraiser.

Kenya lies on the Equator.

Kenya is a country in East Africa with coastline on the Indian Ocean. It encompasses savannah, lake lands, the dramatic Great Rift Valley, mountain highlands and abundant wildlife such as lions, elephants and rhinos. From Nairobi, the capital, safaris visit the Maasai Mara reserve, known for its annual wildebeest migrations, and Amboseli National Park, offering views of Tanzania's 5,895m Mt. Kilimanjaro.

The countries surrounding Kenya are Somalia, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda and Tanzania.

  • Kenya's great rift valley was formed around 20 million years ago when the crust of the earth was built.
  • Kenya has only two seasons, one dry, one wet.
  • Kenya's capital is Naariobi.
  • Mount Kenya is the highest mountain in Kenya with a height of 5,199 meters.
  • The currency of Kenya is a shilling, one shilling equals one hundred cents.
  • One percent of Kenya consists of white people.

Culture
Native African culture has been diluted in many parts of Kenya from outside influences. So for example, Kenya's music is often a mixture of African, Indian, European and American styles.

Making a difference.

  • We can help by reusing plastic milk bottles and lids to make little cars and toys.
  • We could make puzzles and board games for them to play with.
  • We could donate old books to help them improve on their reading
  • We can make videos of origami and making paper planes , to make their recesses a bit more fun.
