MY FIRST CIVILIZATION IS FRANCE.

• This civilization lasted from 1789 to today
• Can be found in unit 3
• Their architecture usualy consisted of builds for the king/queen and churches.
• Usually built in a large scale.

MONUMENTAL ARCHITECTURE IN FRANCE

• Examples of this are the Louvre (Paris)
• Notre Dame cathedral (Paris)
• Palace of Versailles (Versailles)

DO THEY STILL EXIST

• To this day these structures still stand in one piece.
• Versailles was built as a home for King Louis the 14th
• The Louvre was built to house King Philip the 2nd.
• Notre Dame was created to have a cathedral worthy of Paris .

MY FAVORITE PIECE OF FRENCH ARCHITECTURE.

• My favorite monument from france is the Palaces of Versailles.
• I beleive it was a remarkable build.
• It is fascinating how large it is and how they have maintained it to this day.
• It causes me to wonder how hard did they work to build it in that ammount of time.

MY SECOND CIVILIZATION IS MEDIEVAL EUROPE

• That civilization lasted from th 5th to the 15th century.
• Can be found in unit 2
• Gothic architecture was big throughout this region at the time.
• Usually consisted of buildings related to churches.

EXAMPLES OF THE ARCHITECTURE.

• A main example of gothic architecture is the Notre Dame cathedral (paris)
• Another is the Cologne cathedral (Köln, Germany)
• And Milan Cathedral (Milano,Italy)

MORE EXAMPLES

• The tower of London (London)
• Westminister abbey(London)

DO THEY STILL EXIST?

• Yes from what I understand you can visit the cathedrals to this day.
• The purpose the three had was to serve mass in the large cities around them.

MY FAVORITE

• I personally like the Notre Dame cathedral the best because of its location and history.
• A piece of history it lived through was ww2.
• It was mysteriously mostly in one shape and was easy to reassemble after the war.
• It still has 3 of the original glass windows.

DID BOTH CIVILIZATIONS USE ARCHITECTURE THE SAME WAY?
In some ways they did because of the architecture being in the same region, but Gothic was used primarily for churches and the French work was usually done for the king/queen.

WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE?
The purpose to this architecture was for each individual country/people to have its own taste. Such as how France had built mostly large builds and how the gothic style remained mostly for churches.Yes, each individual piece of architecture fulfilled what it was built for.
