The Endoplasmic reticulum in a cell is like the McDonald's in a city because the ER produces lipids, or fats. In a city the McDonald's produces fats by causing the people eating it to become fat, as well as deep frying its products in fats.

The Golgi apparatus modifies, sorts, and packages proteins and other materials for storage in the cell or for release outside of the cell. A post office does the same thing for letters, packages, or other shipments going out of the city or somewhere else within the city.

The lysosomes are like the city's dump because the lysosomes digest worn out cell parts or food particles like the dump decomposes old or used materials and food waste.

Ribosomes in a cell are like the gym in a city because ribosomes are the site where proteins are made, and gyms are the site where muscles are formed. People in a city go to the gym to build up muscle, which uses proteins.

Like a city's boundaries, the cell wall protects the cell. The city's boundaries also give the city its exact shape, just like the cell wall does for the cell. The cell wall keeps the cell safe and secure just like city boundaries.

In a city, the border patrol controls what comes into the city and what goes out of the city. The cell membrane does the for a cell. Regulating what can enter and what can leave the cell.
