A large are with fertile soil and covered completely with tall grass

Most of the plant life in grasslands is grass but different kinds like Blue Grama, Buffalo Grass, Big Blue Stem, Switch Grass, and Little Blue Stem are just some of the different kinds of grasses in grasslands
Also another plant in the grassland is the Purple Cone Flower it is a magenta flower that blooms in the middle of summer early in the fall and in the middle of the fall

Some of the animals that live in grasslands are Zebras, Bisons, Gophors, Prairie Dogs, Wolves, Coyotes, Foxes, and Badgers. These are just some of the animals that live in grasslands.
One food chain in grasslands is the grass gets sunlight and then an grasshopper eats it and then a snake eats the grasshoppers and then a hawk eats the snake and then the leftovers become fungi and the nutrients go to the grass and it starts all over again.
