PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Once upon a time there was a little boy named James in modern day San Francisco getting a book in the library. When he opened the book, the boy got sucked into the story. The book was about the Akkadian Empire so that's where he went.

When James woke up he felt the wet grass beneath him and terrible screaming war cries all around him. The Sumerians were fighting with the Akkadians, the Akkadian army had great military order, but the Sumerians were randomly shooting arrows and attacking with spears. The boy ran away to a nearby cave and looked for food to eat.

3 weeks later James came out of his hideout and went to check if the war was over. He got surprised, giant statues of someone were all over the place. He went to a person and asked him' "Who is the man and why is he everywhere?", they said, “Sargon, the king, and he is at Agade because it is our capital. ” After James traveled all the way to Agade and demanded to the people that he wanted to see the king because he figured that the king would take the book and place it at as a treasure next to him.

The people asked Sargon and he said,“Sure.” So James went to the palace and the first thing he asked the king was, “Who did he defeat. The king answered by saying, “I defeated the king of the city-state Uruk which gave me control of Mesopotamia. James also said, “Why he named Agade the capital. ”The king said,“This is the most richest culture centered place in the world. Also James figured that Sargon would not give the book to him. So he said, “I know the secret of the book, but no one will be able to use it unless I am given special permissions to do anything and I get to keep the book for two hundred years.” The king said, “Yes.”

James continued the conversation by saying, “How do you keep this empire so stable?” The King responded by saying, “I keep control of my empire by using very clever political strategies. I destroyed the walls of many cities to make it harder for the people to rebel. I also demand the loyalty of the governors of city-states. If they were disloyal, I would replace them with my own men. Also when I die I am going to be the first person to let my son be king.”

I also asked the king,“What are you going to do for the tradition of the empire.” The king said, “We still are going to use an irrigation system and we also believe in the same gods, but in different names. We also use the Sumerians form of writing, but we want to make our own(they did after some time), but we also made our own sculptures, called steles, which is much better than the Sumerians. One famous example is the Victory Stele, it was created for the victory of Sargon's grandson King Naram-Sin. Also, our language over through the Sumerian language. After 21 years James figured that he could not grow in the Akkadian empire.

200 years later James woke up and heard another war cry, but this time he saw that another war was happening. Since James did not want to be in it he took the book and wished he could go home and he could not. So he ran away to the forest and started to cry his hopes out. He luckily survived three weeks and went to check if the war was over, it was over but the Akkadians fell down and Sumer once again became city-states.

James was lucky to bring the book with him and the book opened. All of a sudden he saw the same portal he saw 200 years ago and entered the portal and saw he was back in the library and there was no difference of the time in the library. After James read the book and figured that the Akkadian lost their empire because no one wanted to operate the big land. When he was done he went home and had a great time on earth for one year and then he died from cancer.
