PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Government:
Peru gained its independence in 1821. Today Peru is a democratic republic. In 2001 Peruvians elected Alejandro Toledo, the first Indian president.

Economy:
Peru's geography and scarce farmland has made it difficult to create a strong economy. One third of the people are farmers. Peru is one of the leading producer of asparagus. Peru is also leading producer of silver,copper and zinc which are mined in the mountains.

Culture:
The people in Peru have close to 3,000 annual popular festivals. Catholicism is the main religion. They make music out of sea shells , reeds and animal bones.

BOLIVIA

Government:
Bolivia gained their independence in 1825. They have a republic government. Their president now is Juan Evo Morales Ayma.

The most popular sport in Bolivia is football. Women in Bolivia wear pollera
(a pleated skirt). Caporales is the most popular Bolivian dance.

Bolivia has the highest growth rate in South America. The most exported goods are petroleum, food and beverages. The per capita income is 6,130. The top trade partners are Argentina, Brazil and the United States.

ECUADOR

Culture:
Most of the population is Roman Catholic. Two of the most popular holidays are day of the dead and New Year's Eve. The most popular food is Mexican food.

Main trade partners are United States, Colombia and China. The per capita income is $10,469. The main exported goods are oil, mineral fuels,fruits, nuts and seafood. Petroleum is the most money earning from exports.
