One reason clowns are scary is, because they have been used for villains in horror movies.
One example is in 1986 Stephen King wrote a novel with a clown known as 'it' who stood on street corners and murdered people.
Very few children actually like clowns.
A child psychologist once said, 'Very few kids like clowns they are unfamiliar and come from a different era.'
Lastly, Murders have been linked to clowns, leaving them with bad reputations.
From 1972-1978 a killer named John Wayne gacy owned a clown business and was later convicted of 33 accounts of murder...... And other things.
