  • Educated: small private schools then Ownes College.
  • Worked: discovery of the electron, isotopes and mass spectrometry.

EXPERIMENT OBSERVATIONS

  • The plum pudding model he observed the electrons that they were negative
  • He experimented with cathode rays.

DESCRIPTION OF ATOMIC STRUCTURES

  • It was a model of what he thought an atom looked like with electrons, but the structure was wrong.
  • Thomson held that atoms are spheres of positively charged matter.
