COMPANY/NATION PURPOSE

  • Hughes built it in the late 1980s
  • Norway launched it on 8-18-1990
  • Its purpose is for a a telecommunication company called Telenor to do broadcasts to a scientific station in Antartica
  • It was the First Satellite launched By Norway
  • Since then there has been Thor 2 recently decommissioned through Thor 6
