PRESENTATION OUTLINE

Demeter

Demeter is a goddess and is the daughter of Cronus and Rhea and, Demeter is the goddess of the harvest and presides over grains and the fertility of the earth. Although she was most often referred to as the goddess of the harvest, she was also goddess of sacred law and the cycle of life and death.

Hestia, Hera, Hades, Poseidon, Zeus were Demeter's siblings and they were all Gods and Goddesses.

Persephone, Despoine, Areion, Ploutos, Philomelos-Bootes, Eubouleus, Khrysothemis and Korybas. Was Demeter's children.

PERSEPHONE
The Queen of the Underworld, the daughter of Zeus and Demeter. She was abducted to the Underworld by Haides Lord of the Dead.

AREION
An immortal horse owned by the hero Herakles and later Adrastos. He was the offspring of Demeter who was raped by Poseidon in the guise of a horse.

PLOUTOS

PHILOMELOS-BOOTES
The demi-god inventor of the wagon and ploughshare. He was a son of Iasion and Demeter.

EUBOULEUS
The demi-god of the ploughed earth. He was a son of Karmanor and Demeter. Eubouleus may be the same as Philomelos.

KHRYSOTHEMIS
A demi-goddess of the harvest festival. She was a daughter of Karmanor and Demeter.

KORYBAS
The leader of the Samothracian Korybantes. He was a son of Demeter and Iasion.

Demeter had a daughter named Persephone and one day Hades abducted her daughter and then Demeter asked Zeus, and when Zeus refused Demeter withheld the harvest from man until Zeus relented. He agreed to allow Persephone’s return if she had not eaten while with Hades but she ate 6 pomegranates so she had to stay 6 months with her mother from spring to summer and 6 months with Hades from fall to winter.

I think the moral of the story was that if you love someone don't let them go so easily fight for them.

I think the reason Greeks made Greek story's is its fun to read and tell them and because they believe in them just like we believe in are God and other things that they don't believe in.
