PRESENTATION OUTLINE

UNBALANCED

The adult on the side that is sitting on the ground makes the seesaw rise up with the children which makes it unbalanced

SYMMETRIC BALANCE

If you split this painting in half either vertical or horizontal then you will get the same on both sides. That is what makes it a symmetric balanced painting.

ASYMMETRIC BALANCE

One the left hand side there is a pointed mountain type thing that draws attention to that side. On the right hand side there is the sun that draws attention to the right hand side.

SMALL AREA OF BRIGHT COLORS

The yellow on the dress and the church stand out more than the green tree and the periwinkle background.

CONTRAST OF VALUE OR COLOR

This painting is where the orange from the fall leaves blend in with the yellow leaves which blends into the brown mountains and has some blue in the mountains. That blue on the mountains makes the blue sky blend in all together.

SMALLER MORE COMPLICATED SHAPE

The rounded eggs is reflected in the glass. The bigger "version" of the glass is the pitcher is will balance out the pitcher and the eggs.

A SMALLER ROUGH TEXTURED SHAPE

The small pan in the woman's lap looks rough while the womans' grapes and dress looks smooth than the pan.

Untitled Slide

In reality the flowers would be larger than the glass that these are in. With a glass this size in the painting and the flowers that size in the painting, it all becomes balanced out.

RADIAL BALANCE

The pointed triangles draw attention away from the center.
