TYPE 1

  • Also known as juvenile onset or insulin-dependent diabetes
  • It's when little or no insulin is produced by the pancreas
  • Usually people under 20 years of age get type 1
  • Symptoms are extreme thirst, frequent urination, exhaustion
  • People with type 1 need insulin injections

TYPE 2

  • Also known as adult-onset or non-insulin diabetes
  • Pancreas doesn't make enough insulin; therefore, sugar needs to be controlled
  • Usually in older people (ages 40-60)
  • Don't always need insulin shots
  • Symptoms appear slowly: exhaustion, frequent urination, etc

TYPE 1 IS MORE THAN LIKELY NOT, TYPE 2 DEFINITELY IS

HOW TO CONTROL TYPE 1

  • Healthy diet
  • Controlled sugar
  • Daily insulin injections
  • Regular testing of blood sugar

HOW TO CONTROL TYPE 2

  • Healthy diet/exercise
  • Control sugar intake
  • Some may need insulin shots
  • Regular testing of blood sugar level
